Nord-Tromslandet.no wants to contribute to an increase in geotourism, which is defined in issue 34, 2006 of National Geographic as “tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents”.

Between the Lyngen Alps and the Øksfjordjøkul in Finnmark lies "the North-Tromsland". You will discover an exciting nature because despite the distances being small the contrasts are huge: from islands to fjords, from alpine mountains to flat mountain plains and from small sheltered lakes to large glacial streams. This variation between flat valleys and islands surrounded by steep alpine mountains makes North-Troms a completely unique nature area within both the Northern Cap and Europe.
